How 7v7 Flag Football Works
The Fall Flag Football Coed League uses a 7-on-7 (7v7) format, one of the most popular and exciting versions of flag football. In a 7v7 game, each team fields seven players at a time on a smaller field than traditional tackle football, creating a fast-paced, high-scoring game that emphasizes speed, passing, and smart teamwork over collisions and size. Because there is no tackling allowed, players wear flags attached to a belt, and the defensive team stops a play by pulling one of the ball carrier's flags.
Our league is coed, which means teams are made up of both boys and girls playing together. The format is designed to be welcoming for everyone — experienced athletes and first-time players alike. Teams can register as a full squad with up to ten players, or individual players can sign up as free agents and be assigned to a team that needs players. This keeps games balanced and gives every athlete a chance to take the field.
Each season runs as a 7-game series played on weekends at Newport High School in Bellevue, Washington. Games are scheduled so players and families can enjoy football without conflicting with school or weekday commitments. Registration is $100 per team per game, and the season fee covers the full 7-game series. The league enforces a code of conduct and a liability waiver to ensure games stay safe, respectful, and fun for everyone involved.
Flag football is a great way to stay active, build friendships, and learn the fundamentals of football in a low-risk, high-energy environment. Whether you want to compete, get some exercise, or just have fun with your friends, 7v7 coed flag football offers something for athletes of every age and skill level.
